A short distance from Bevagna, Montefalco lies in a hill top position with panoramic views over most of the region, giving it the soubriquet "Umbria's Belvedere", the balcony of Umbria. The vineyards surrounding it belong to DOCG Sagrantino, as well as DOC Montefalco, red and white, and Grechetto Colli Martani. Wine has been produced here since time immemorial, and precise regulations already existed to fix the harvest time and wine production procedures back in the XV century. The town itself has a long history and, besides retaining remnants of Roman Villas from Imperial times, keeps all the charm of an intact mediaeval settlement.
