Piaggi, Myler & Citron. Three tempered young men. These are the new names at the head of Byblos, the brand which in its early days, had been entrusted to the very young Gianni Versace. After seven years working constantly together, the trio have decided to change course. The menswear they design has to feel right to all three of them, with their different builds and sizes. It must be something they don't already have in their wardrobes, something they like and find intriguing. Maybe that costume, the most original one in the show, a bit military, a bit like a fitter, or a pilot or an explorer. It's different for women, of course - a trip, a film, or a picture can be the inspiration for their ideal feminine image. That outfit that was on the catwalks in September, and was in the Milan show. The one with the trousers with laces going up the legs, the caftans, the billowy blouses, gauze sandals, the bon-bon bags. The three stylists have made a new start from this point, and are already at work creating the 2003 winter collections. But who are they exactly? Stefano Citron, whose previous career was in photography, before moving to fashion; Greg Myler, an Englishman with little round spectacles, with a degree from the Central Saint Martin's College of Art & Design and with experience in a number of companies; and Federico Piaggi, who studied architecture before dedicating himself to couture. They have a clear vision: a winning idea is the most important factor, closely followed by quality in the service of creativity, and of course, selling the product.
