Genny

» info

At the beginning it was skirts and blouses that Arnaldo Girombelli was producing under the label Genny to complement the collections he was selling in his boutique in Ancona. It was a small scale craft production which gained increasing esteem from the clients. In '76 the entrepreneur from the Marches took on the very young Donatella Ronchi as style coordinator. They got married and when Girombelli died in 1980, she succeeded him at the helm of the company.Standard-bearer of the made in Italy and its winning formula, an expert blend of fashion, industry and a capacity to stay in tune with public tastes, Girombelli opened his first workshop for the production of high quality clothing in '68. He began working with stylists in the '70s, gaining exposure to talented people with a wide range of backgrounds and vocations - from Versace to Dolce & Gabbana, from Christian Lacroix to Richard Tyler - and this was to be the trump card for this group from Ancona with its international vocation. Now the Genny collections stay continuously in harmony with the changes taking place in society and the changing role of women. After the strong and hyper-feminine style of the '80s and the more conceptual fashion of the '90s, the moment has come to try to find a balance between luxury and simplicity.
